Yarn Count Conversion
Convert between Tex, Ne, and Denier yarn count systems
How It Works
Convert between different yarn count systems: Tex, Ne (English cotton count), and Denier.
Yarn count defines the fineness or thickness of yarn. Different systems are used globally: Tex (direct system, g/1000m), Ne (indirect system, number of 840-yard hanks per pound), and Denier (direct system, g/9000m). Tex is preferred in modern textile manufacturing because it follows the SI metric system and is simple to calculate — higher Tex means thicker yarn.
Yarn count directly affects fabric strength, softness, drape, and appearance. Accurate count conversion is essential for sourcing yarns from different suppliers, matching yarn specifications in weaving and knitting, and ensuring consistent fabric quality. The conversion factor between Ne and Tex is approximately 590.5.
