Weaving
Calculate reed, crimp, cover factor, GSM, and roll length
Roll Measurement
How It Works
Calculate weaving parameters including reed count, crimp, cover factor, GSM, and roll length.
Weaving calculations are fundamental to fabric design and production planning. The reed count determines the number of dents per 2 inches in the reed, which controls warp thread density. Reed width must be wider than cloth width to accommodate weft crimp.
Crimp% measures the extra yarn length required for interlacing — higher crimp means more yarn consumption. Cover factor quantifies how densely the fabric surface is covered by yarns; higher CF means tighter fabric. Max EPI for a given count prevents over-densification. GSM reduced formula gives a quick estimate from EPI, PPI, and yarn counts. Fabric weight in oz/sq.yd is commonly used in the US market (denim, etc.). The roll length formula uses outside diameter, core diameter, and fabric thickness to estimate length without unrolling.
