Surface area is the total area occupied by the surface of a three-dimensional object. This calculator computes the surface area of common 3D shapes.
Surface area is the total area occupied by the surface of a three-dimensional object. Like volume calculations, surface area calculations use well-defined formulas for common shapes. A sphere has the smallest surface area for a given volume of any shape. A cube's surface area is the sum of the areas of its six square faces. A cylinder's surface area comprises two circular bases and a rectangular lateral surface (which wraps around). A cone's surface area includes its circular base and its lateral surface (which is a sector of a circle when flattened).
