Fabric Consumption
Estimate fabric required per garment
How It Works
Estimate the amount of fabric required to produce a single garment for costing and production planning.
Fabric consumption calculation is one of the most critical tasks in garment merchandising and costing. Even a small error can lead to significant financial loss in bulk production. The calculation considers garment dimensions (marker area), fabric GSM, and a wastage allowance factor.
The allowance factor accounts for fabric waste during cutting, end losses, shading variations, and defects. Typical allowance ranges from 2-5% for basic styles and up to 10-15% for complex patterns with high wastage. Accurate consumption figures are essential for fabric ordering, costing, and price negotiation with buyers.
