Carding
Calculate carding machine efficiency, production, and wastage
Alternative Method & Wastage
How It Works
Calculate carding machine efficiency, production, and waste percentage.
Carding is a critical process in spinning that converts the blow room lap into a sliver while individualizing fibers, removing remaining impurities, and disentangling neps. Carding efficiency directly affects yarn quality and productivity.
Production is primarily determined by doffer speed, doffer diameter, and the sliver hank being produced. Doffer is the main delivery roller and its surface speed controls the production rate. Carding wastage typically ranges from 3-8% depending on raw material quality. Alternative production formula uses surface speed and tension draft for more precise calculations. Carding is often called the heart of spinning because defects introduced here cannot be corrected later.
